  • Life Span Based on System Type:

    Heat Pump: 10-15 Years

    AC Only: 12-17 Years

    Gas Furnace: 5-20 Years

    Boiler: 20-30 years

  • There is a common misconception here. A lot of customers are using the super thin fiberglass filters. This is a mistake. If you can see through it, there is a high chance a lot of particles are making it through.

Filters that claim to filter more particulates are good, but when they get dirty they start to restrict heavily and can damage the system.

I always suggest the thinest filter that you can not see through. Over my 1000’s of maintenances conducted, this filter is best for the system.

According to the Department of Energy, they should be changed every 1-3 months.

But of course this depends fully on your living habits, if you have animals it will be more frequent, and if you are not running your system then it is not pulling in dust into the filter.

  • I can tell you from experience, the loyal customers of mine that I visit once every 6 months almost never have any issues.

And if they do, they are always caught early.

Coil cleaning should be done once per year according to the Department of Energy.
